Another Successful Family Friendly Event

A big THANK YOU to all who helped make our Family Friendly Fundraiser such a success! It would not have been possible without the work of our board members, staff, Youth Leaders, community supporters and volunteers. The cast had a wonderful last and 100th show to close the season of “The Incredible Speediness of Jamie Cavanaugh” and we surpassed our goals on donations and silent auction bids. ‘OUTSIDE’ GALA at The 519 on March 19th

Tickets are now on sale for Roseneath’s OUTSIDE GALA at The 519 on March 19th. Join us for an evening of great theatre, food and special guests, as we raise money to take Paul Dunn’s OUTSIDE across Ontario.

Outside tells the story of Daniel, a teen who triumphs over homophobic bullying, depression and suicide.  At his new school he shares his story at a meeting of the Gay Straight Alliance.  Meanwhile at his old school, struggling to come to terms with what happened, his friends Krystina and Jeremy attempt to start their own GSA.

This one-time gala performance includes hors d’oeuvres, special guests, a silent auction and a fully-staged performance of Outside.
The work Roseneath is undertaking with Outside has the potential to make a significant impact in the life of a young audience member – perhaps most significantly so in the rural communities on the tour. One of our more salient goals in programming Outside is to get the play out to those communities beyond the GTA – communities in which a young person coming to grips with their new found LGBTQ-identity might not have the breadth of support offered to a teenager in Toronto.

Outside made its premiere last year, and received Dora Mavor Moore Award nominations for Outstanding New Play and Outstanding Performance. This year the play tours across Ontario for a second time, from March 21 – May 13, 2016.

All money raised from this event will support the cost of touring Outside to remote areas of the province, starting conversation and promoting understanding and support.

And if you want to get an idea of how much fun the event well be, here are some photos from our Family Friendly Fundraiser on February 28th.
