Yukiko is from Akita Japan, and worked as a wedding singer in Tokyo. She moved to Nelson, British Columbia and completed the Contemporary Music and Technology program at Selkirk College in 2008.

Yukiko operated her national award-winning radio show, Japanese Musiquest, on the Kootenay Coop Radio in Nelson, BC from 2007 to 2012. The show syndicated on 5 stations across Canada, exposed its listeners to Japanese culture.

In 2010, she coordinated the Japanese Folk Song Umewaka-kai Western Canada tour, receiving one of the most competitive funding from The Japan Foundation Arts and Cultural Exchange program.

As a singer-songwriter, her original song “Kokyo” has been selected for semi-final in the World category for the 2012 International Songwriting Competition (ISC).

After Yukiko taught music in Japan for 5 years, she moved to Toronto in 2016 with her love of arts and culture. She is excited to join the team of Roseneath Theatre for this season!
